Dewain E. Johnson 75, passed away peacefully at his home Sunday April 10, 2011. He was born in Newman Grove, NE and was a teacher for 35 years mostly in Beech Grove and Indianapolis. Dewain is survived by his loving wife Judith of 52 years; children Brad Johnson, Stephanie (Brett) Frankhauser, and Scott (Ginger) Johnson; 10 Grandchildren and sisters Minda Maxwell and Lois Hopper.

Dee Steininger has been employed by Messenger Corp. and his brother by Modern Account System. They and their families expect to move to St. Joe.

Theodore E. Haberkorn has purchased the St. Joe News from Emmett Steininger and will assume

Emmett Steininger of Waterloo, former publisher of the St. Joe News and for the past two years
operator of a job printing shop in Waterloo, reported Thursday that he will move his shop to Auburn. Steininger will open his Printcraft business at 704 North Union street where his brother, Dee Steininger, formerly operated a shop. Dee has moved to Grabill where is is now publisher of the Cedar Creek Courier, a semi-monthly publication. Emmett, with his wife and five children, will move to Auburn this week to the home formerly owned by his brother

Printcraft Printing Shop Business in Auburn Sold

The Printcraft Shop business in Auburn, owned by Emmett Steininger of 302 East First street was sold Monday to the Webb Printing Co. at 210 West Twelfth street in Auburn. Marion Webb of 507 South Jackson street, Auburn, owner of the firm, said Monday that Mr. Steininger has been employed as manager of the new printing establishment.
The Webb Printing company was formed about seven years ago and has been engaged chiefly in
the printing of catalogues and premium books for dog shows. With the additional equipment, the Webb Printing Co., will be engaged in general printing work, including offset and letter press printing.
Mr. Steininger opened the Printcraft Shop in Auburn approximately five years ago. The Printcraft building has been sold to Alva Thomas of Auburn who, with his son, Richard Thomas, will open a paint and wallpaper store in the building.

AUBURN – Emmett O. Steininger, 99, of Auburn died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at DeKalb Health in Auburn. Emmett was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Royal Center, Indiana, to Forrest and Viola (Lusher) Steininger. Mr. Steininger was the owner and operator of the Printcraft Printing Company in Auburn and then retired from the Fort Wayne Printing Company.

He attended the Auburn Church of the Nazarene. He was a member of the Auburn Lions Club and was a dedicated gardener that was a past recipient of the DeKalb County Gardener of the Year award. Emmett married Mabel L. “Peggy” McDougle on Oct. 10, 1936, in the home where Peggy was raised near Twelve Mile, Indiana, and she passed away March 26, 2010.

Surviving are four children and their spouses, Judith Johnson of Indianapolis, Don and Kathy Steininger of Fort Wayne, Betty and Larry Theel of Overland Park, Kansas, and Barbara and Russell Hoff of Auburn; a son in-law, Dr. Gerard Reed of Spring, Texas; nine grandchildren, Bradley Johnson, Stephanie (Brett) Frankhauser, Trent (Shelley) Theel, Scott (Ginger) Johnson, Alison (Steve) Rynearson, Travis (Rachelle) Theel, Kisha Steininger, Ryan (Maura) Hoff and Toby (Marci) Theel; 19 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Hubert and Marcy Steininger of Auburn; a sister, Wanda Bowman of Noblesville; and a sister-in-law, Evangeline Steininger of Auburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter, Roberta Reed; son-in-law, Dewain
Johnson; and four brothers, Bill Steininger, Leo Steininger, Dee Steininger and Dwight Steininger.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Auburn Church of the Nazarene, 2301 N. Main St., Auburn,
with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Monday prior to the service at the church. The Dr. Gerard Reed and the Rev. Dan White will be officiating. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn.
Visitation will also be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. C.O. McDougle of near Walton was the scene of a pretty wedding at high noon Saturday when their daughter Mabel and Emmett O. Steininger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Steininger of near Royal Center, were married. The Reverend Dwight Steininger, brother of the bridegroom, performed the ceremony before an altar banked with autumn flowers. The bride wore a mulberry rust crepe tunic frock with brown accessories. Her only attendant, Velsie McVety of Anoka, wore a black crepe tunic dress with matching accessories. Bruce Lowe of San Diego, Cal., attended the groom. Following the ceremony, a dinner was served the wedding party and the following: Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Steininger, the Rev. and Mrs. Dwight Steininger, Mr. and Mrs. Lennie Sherrill and daughters, Mrs. Marion Barnett and children, Vernon, Leon and Ellen Jeanne, Emerson and Deloris McDougle of Logansport; Velsi McVety of Angola, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Leavell and Maxine McDougle of Fulton, Bruce Lowe of San Diego, Calif., Leo, Hubert, Wando and Billy Steininger of Royal Center. Mrs. Steininger was graduated from Metea high school in 1934. Mr. and Mrs. Steininger are residing at Auburn where Mr. Steininger is employed by a printing company.

MABEL L. “PEGGY” STEININGER, 94, of Auburn, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at DeKalb Memorial Hospital in Auburn. Mrs. Steininger was born on Nov. 7, 1915, in Royal Center, Ind., daughter of Clarence and Della (Leavell) McDougle. She was a bookkeeper for the Evening Star Newspaper in Auburn and Electric Motors in Garrett, retiring in 1980. She was also a member of Auburn Church of the Nazarene and a member and past president of the Auburn Garden Club.

She married Emmett Steininger on Oct. 10, 1936, in her parent’s home near Twelve Mile, Ind.; he survives. She is also survived by four children and their spouses, Judith and Dewain Johnson of Indianapolis, Don and Kathy Steininger of Fort Wayne, Betty and Larry Theel of Overland Park, Kan. and Barbara and Russell Hoff of Auburn; a son-in-law, Dr. Gerard Reed of Spring, Texas; sisters, Ellen Johnson of Crown Point and Delores Dennison of Columbia City; nine grandchildren, Bradley Johnson, Stephanie (Brett) Frankhauser, Trent (Shelley) Theel, Scott (Ginger) Johnson, Alison Hoff, Travis (Rachelle) Theel, Kisha Steininger, Ryan (Maura) Hoff and Toby (Marci) Theel; and 18 great-grandchildren.
