Arlie E . Fisher , 89, of Searcy, Arkansas, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008.
Arlie was an Air Force Veteran. He retired from NASA in 1974, and was one of the
engineers on Apollo 11. He spent two years with the Peace Corp. in Fiji. Arlie was a
graduate of University of Arkansas with a degree in Engineering. He received the National Volunteer Award and loved traveling the world. Arlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gladys Steininger Fisher; one brother, George Fisher; and his sister, Maxine Kean. He is survived by one brother, Jim and wife Johnnie Ruth Fisher of Searcy; three nieces and three nephews. Family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe. Graveside
service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Beebe Cemetery. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.

Editorial cartoonist for the Arkansas Gazette from 1964 to 1991. His work focused
mainly on state issues and politicians, including Governors Orval Faubus and Bill
Clinton, whom he depicted riding a tricycle due to Clinton’s young age when he
became governor. Fisher always incorporated his wife’s nickname, Snooky, into his
cartoons, prompting his audience to look for “Snooky” when they read the
newspaper each morning. After the Gazette closed in 1991, he began drawing
cartoons for the weekly Arkansas Times and did so until his death. His cartoons
have been compiled in a number of books over the years.

Charles Jimmy “C.J.” Fisher, 85, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Searcy, was born February
3, 1927 at Beebe, Arkansas, to Charles and Gladys (Steininger) Fisher, and he died Thursday,
March 29, 2012 after a battle with Alzheimer’s and bladder cancer. He was a WWII Navy veteran, and was retired from Southwestern Bell after thirty-eight years of service. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years, Johnnie (McKenney) Fisher, of Hot Springs, formerly of Searcy and Beebe; one son, Stephen (Jane) Fisher; two daughters, Brenda (Keith) Matthews and Sarah (Mark) Robbins, both of Hot Springs; grandchildren Adam Matthews, Josh (April) Matthews, Will Matthews, Ben Robbins, Grace Robbins and Matt (Lauren) Landers; great-grandchildren Charlee May Matthews and Addison Landers; nephew, John Kean; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Arlie Fisher, Maxine Kean and George Fisher. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012, at First United Methodist Church, Searcy, with memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment was Friday at Beebe Cemetery
