Rochester Man Dies
ROCHESTER – Herman Paul Steininger, 73, of 218 Pontiac St., died at 12:30 p.m. at his
residence. He had been in failing health approximately one year. He was born Dec. 5, 1899 in
Fulton County, the son of Howard and Eliza Steininger. He had lived in the area most of his life.
His marriage was in Fulton County Feb. 27, 1928 to Grace Herbik. She died Feb. 9, 1969.
Steininger was an employe of Armour and Company and had been caretaker at the city park. He
also served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Army. He was a member of the Church of God.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Brown, of Ithaca, N.Y., and Mrs. Charlotte Wintrode,
Rt. 1, Andrews; eight grandchildren, a brother, the Rev. George Steininger, of Fort Wayne, A
daughter, his parents, two sisters and two brothers preceded in death. Funeral services will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Foster and Good Funeral Home in Rochester. The Rev. C. J.
Mowrer will officiate. Burial will be in the IOOF Cemetery at Rochester. Friends may call at the
funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday

Mrs. Grace M. STEININGER, 70, 218 North Pontiac street, died at 9:05 a.m. Sunday in the Wabash county hospital at Wabash. She had been in failing health five years. Born March 12, 1898, in Richland Township, she was the daughter of John and Carolyn KUHN HERBICK. Her marriage was February 27, 1928, in Richland township, to Herman E. STEININGER, who survives. She had spent most of her life in Fulton county and was a member of the Church of God in Rochester, the Neighborly club, and the WCTU.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie H. BROWN, Ithaca, N.Y., and Mrs. Daniel (Charlotte) WINTRODE, R.R. 1, Andrews, and eight grandchidlren. One daughter preceded in death.
Final rites will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Foster & Good funeral home. The Rev. C. J. MOWRER will officiate. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery here. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m.Tuesday

Gerald Eugene “Gene” SHRIVER, 75, 1006 1/2 Jefferson St., died at approximately 11 p.m.
Thursday at his residence. He was born May 6, 1925 to Esta and Edith KAMP SHRIVER. He had been married to Marjorie STEININGER. He lived most of his life in the Akron and Rochester areas. Retired from GenCorp, Wabash, he was a U.S. Army Veteran of the World War II European Theater. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #852, Rochester. Survivors include a daughter, Jenifer BRINK and her special friend Bernie CARPENTER, Ithaca, N.Y.; a son, Lt. Col. Jeffrey SHRIVER and his special friend Patty, U.S.A.F., Germany; three grandchildren, Samantha and Sgt. J.R. SHRIVER and James J. BRINK; one sister, Frances SMITH and her husband Robert, Bellview, Fla., and nieces, nephews and cousins. Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Foster and Good Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. David DITTMAN officiating. Burial will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery with LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post 36 and Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars Post performing military graveside rites. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday or after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
